Today’s schedule I loved because it was a collection of some of my favorite brands.

The Row began the day with amazing rust tones and patchwork furs. Leather made an appearance in the forms of cropped jackets and motorcycle leggings.

Next was Proenza Schouler. Royal blue was the color of the season with additions of orange and red. Inspiration was a jaunt through the Himalayas that the boys took recently.

Diane Von Furstenburg was the following appointment. She took a lady’s wardrobe and made it rock- beautifully cut tweed jackets toughened up with chains and a slight elegant buttery leather blazer roughened up with studs. Envelope clutches with spaces for i-pads and laptops were ideal for todays travelling girls.

Carolina Herrera’s candlelit showroom was our next stop after lunch. The collection was incredible! Huge origami bows decorated bare backs, grosgrain ribbons in duck egg blue brought in the waists, and lace covered full sleeves of blouses worn with ball skirts.

The last stop of the day was to Roland Mouret. The colors were enchanting. Pale dusk pink, vivid bottle green, deep ocean blues, and a dark burgundy.

An amazing day of collections.

Today was a busy busy day.
We began at Elizabeth & James. It was colorful and fun, with high-lo skirts, plaid blazers, and white feathers trimming jackets and skirts.

Next stop was to Pierre Balmain who had fantastic studs on leather jackets, bright buttons on puffa’s, and a fantastic silk fringing on winter coats and tees. The shoes were all about spikes and studs and basket woven leather.

Preen came after with an amazing array of colorful dresses. Blue and white porcelain china inspired with splashes of bright oranges.

We were then off to cool brand Acne with their amazing showroom (our requested water arrived with a lemongrass speared through satsumas and a selection of chocolate truffles and spiced popcorn)! Colors were royal blue, metallic silver, acid yellow with oversized shapes and mongolian fur trims.

Lastly we ended up at Matthew Williamson. Sparkly cocktail dresses with open backs, geometric tile prints, and elegant palazzo pants.

We began our day at Nicholas Kirkwood who had a fun time throwing glitter around. Icy blue and white glitter on platforms, bright multicolored glitter on strappy sandals, and hammered gold on red velvet pumps.

We then went on to Zac Posen who had dramatic beautiful gowns. A fully embroidered cocoon gown that would be magnificent on a Korean queen. Also his mermaid cut gowns created beautiful silhouettes on the models.

Jason Wu placed floral embroidery on his cocktail dresses and created crystal collars for his gowns. A youthful collection for Pre Fall 2012.

J.Mendel took my breath away. We saw the beautiful boatneck gown that Jodie Foster wore down the red carpet as well as the backless beauty that Claire Danes wore to the Golden Globes.

Vera Wang was all about the layering and the fantastic knee high socks. She worked with some more dynamic prints to offset her neutrals as well.

Our last stop for the day was to Theyskens Theory. I adored the crystal embellished leggings, the cropped back blazers, and the lace girly dresses.

Trip coming closer to an end and its been so fun. Only three days remain. More tomorrow.

Carolina Herrera and daughter Carolina Adriana visited Jeddah & Dubai recently, lending her support to a local breast cancer awareness association by co-hosting a charity dinner. At a press conference announcing the dinner, Herrera credited the Middle East as a source of inspiration.

Upon meeting women at the event, she spoke of abayas and kaftans as model designs that have inspired international designers for a long time. “In every summer collection, you get to see beautiful, colorful kaftans that women wear at the beach, from Yves Saint Laurent and other designers,” she explained.

Of kaftans, Herrera said, “I believe it’s an easy wear and elegant.” She went on to add, “This would definitely be an inspirational source especially after my visit to Jeddah and Dubai.”
In addition to expressing admiration for the level of sophistication women in the region present themselves, she indicated, “All my clients are women who look for elegant, simple yet chic clothing.”
Such elegant, simple yet chic clothing, including Carolina Herrera, can be found at AlOthman.

On Day 3, we had a multitude of big appointments.
We began with Oscar de la Renta. Pre Fall was fun and quirky. They used these amazing massive gold sequins that I’ve never seen before. I also loved their degrade full skirts in their gowns and cocktails.

We then went off to the Christian Louboutin showroom. Luckily for us, yesterday we had ran into Monsieur Louboutin on the streets and we chatted about his trips to Kuwait. He promised us a dinner with the O girls the next time he’s in Kuwait.

The collection for Pre Fall was stunning- amazing pocohantas type boots, a fantastic ziggy animal print fabric, and a very luxe velvet material on sandals and flats. Lovely.

We finished our day at the Isabel Marant showroom. Hippie style chiffon dresses, metallic bomber jackets, and devore slinky pants. The boots were fantastic in ponyskin as well as the classic sneakers in bright blues and snakeskin whites.
Unfortunately we were forbidden to take photos in Louboutin or Isabel Marant, so not much to share. But use you imagination because everything was beautiful!
Bisous.
It’s that time of the week! This week’s Monday additions online include some fabulous pieces from Carven and Temperley London. We’ve added over 20 pieces from both brands, many of which are dresses ranging from casual chic, to sophisticated style.
Check out my personal favorite from the lot, this lovely lace dress in navy that is fitted around the waist by Carven. Another noteworthy Carven addition is this two-piece look, a pleated mid-waist cotton skirt with a matching button down shirt featuring a lace collar at the neck.

As for the Temperley London pieces, there were so many different styles, materials and detailing among the selection of dresses and tunics, the following one however, struck me as simple and elegant. This round-collared white silk dress with cropped sleeves white dress features embellished shoulders, detailed with drawstrings on each side:

We began our day at Erdem, where the prints took center stage. Bright coral offset blacks and a tobacco beige, and yellow silk were overlayed with a navy lace.

Roksanda was next with her lego inspired Pre Fall collection. Bright yellows, reds, ocean, and white were color blocked in the most dramatic effect.

Jonathon Saunders took an ode to the 50′s with full printed skirts and cropped tops and cap sleeves gowns.

Then it was off to Alexander Wang where the looks was a layered athletic New Yorker. Red was introduced this season as was an ice blue. Perfect to contrast against his black and grey basics.

Some big beautiful accounts tomorrow.

After much MUCH anticipation, Blair Waldorf is finally making it to the alter to marry her prince… or so I’m guessing! I didn’t personally watch last week’s episode but after viewing these stunning images I’m tempted to cozy up to a blanket and my laptop to watch how the Upper East side princess chose her wedding gown…and whether she married price Louis or ditched him for her lost love Chuck Bass.
The episode wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the acclaimed Vera Wang boutique in Madison avenue. It comes as no surprise that Blair would go for a a Vera Wang piece (since Leighton Meester who plays the character is the face of the brand’s Lovestruck perfume). In the first image she tried on a gorgeous piece from the designer’s Fall 2011 Lux gowns. However, the final choice ended up being an A-line gown with delicate Chantilly lace applique from an earlier collection. The show’s stylist Eric Daman explains his choice for Blair, “It’s phenomenal. It has that kind of bravado and gorgeousness and is also subtle and beautiful”. The stunning Vera gown does have that vintage feel that is perfect for Blair‘s character and fashion sense, and that large bow detail at her waist reminded me of her hair accessories from earlier seasons… ok now I really can’t wait to watch the entire episode!

Today was our one day in Milan to run around and see all our Italian designers.
We began at Studio Zeta to take a look at the Yigal Azrouel collection. Easy pieces in beautiful prints and flowy chiffon dominated for Pre Fall 2012.

Next we were off to the glamorous showroom of Derek Lam. The collection is housed in a grand room full of fresco’s on the wall- magic. Lam introduced a sunflower color as well as great bandana type prints for Fall.

We then continued on to Brian Atwood. Platforms, lace-ups, and leopard print took center stage. Can’t wait to add him to out repertoire of shoe designers at AlOthman.
We then went to the gardenlike showroom of Costume National. Embedded between gardens of Cacti, the Pre Fall collection was full of cocoon shapes. There was the odd silver lame wrap tuxedo dress that grabbed our eye as well.

Last stop was to Alice and Olivia. The collection was bright and girly and fun as it always is. They extended the line to include a capsule called ‘air’. Filled with jersey and cotton knits in the forms of slinky dresses and seperates.

Jetting of to Paris now. The week of fashion is just beginning.
Kisses!
