Ever wonder who comes up with those surreal window displays at Selfridges or Harvey Nichols? From creating stunning shop windows to in-store displays, visual merchandisers put the art into retail. They constantly change store windows and interior displays to reflect different themes throughout the year.
AlOthman is giving you the chance to show off your creative skills with our first edition of Visual Merchandiser For a Day. Your goal is to come up with a unique concept for an in-store display for AlOthman that should turn heads and grab attention.
All you have to do to be AlOthman’s “Visual Merchandiser For a Day” is the following:
- Download a layout of the main display area with all its dimensions.
- After you’ve selected your theme/concept, sketch out your idea on the printout.
Remember your theme should complement the elements of visual merchandising display: balance, proportion, emphasis, rhythm, and harmony.
- You will also be required to present documentation that will further explain your concept (theme, materials, design principles, budget, sketches, and anything else we might need to know that will help us understand your concept better).
- Things to keep in mind:
Theme/Concept
Materials
Color Palette of the current season
Time management
Design principles
Budget
- Send us your scanned layout and write-up by e-mail to admin@alothmanblog.com with the following information:
Full name
Mobile number
Age
Gender
Country
The winner will have their concept translated in the store. So hurry up and channel your inner Zoe Bradley.
Deadline to submit your idea is Friday November 27th, 2009.
