Get the Look!

It is always useful to have a “go-to” look whenever you are having a wardrobe crisis moment.  Black skinny pants paired with a blazer is always a look you can fall back on.  Below, Sophia Bush sported a sleek look on the red carpet by pairing skinny leather pants with an off-white lapel blazer.

Lets Have a “Rendezvous”

i was browsing through one of my favourite fashion blogs, Style Bubble and came across these fun pictures showing off the DVF Rendevous collection.

It’s called Fetish Box Clutch and it’s the new capsule collection launched by Diane von Furstenberg  as part of the Fall 2012 collection entitled “Rendezvous”. Inspired by the Surrealist undertones of the Fall 2012 collection: “It’s all about desire and I think the fetish bags speak to that,” says Creative Director Yvan Mispelaere.

All styles are hand-crafted in Italy and feature sophisticated materials and details such as embroideries made using metallic yarns and gorgeous crystal clasps.

As Diane von Furstenberg herself says, “Accessories are the punctuation and these little bags are so unique and glamorous. They are perfect to keep all of your secrets!”

Trend Alert: Delicately Laced

London’s finest designers seem to have a soft spot to one of my favorite elements used in fashion: Lace.

Erdem was inspired by french actress Jeanne Moreau in her powerful yet feminine aura. Strong splashes of orange mixed with hues of tobacco were toned down by lace and floral appliques.

Preen, on the other hand, was inspired by the practicality of transitioning between seasons. Which means you can wear the pieces for summer (when the merchandise hits stores) and still be able to “winterize” them later on during the season. Very clever!

Both designers pre-fall collections are now available at AlOthman !

Boyish Feathers

Helmut Lang, the label designed by the husband-and-wife team Michael and Nicole Colovos, Colovos felt like it was time to switch things around. The new Resort lineup is still recognizably cool, but it has a boxier, slouchier look. “We wanted something more boyish,” Nicole said.

According to the designers, Kate McGwire’s feathered sculptures served as an inspiration for the movement and texture of the new offerings.

The contemporary market that the label dominates is now digital print-crazy, and with this abstract print looks great  even easy dresses.

Detective Chic

I am a huge fan of classic films.

None fit the bill better than the Bogie/Bacall Detective film ‘The Big Sleep‘.

As soon as I skimmed through Marios Schwab‘s Resort 2013 collection, the film immediately struck my mind.

He brought back 1940′s seductive yet conservative detective chic to us.

Loving the look, and am very excited to bring back hats, gloves, and capes.

Dreamlike

William Shakespear‘s classic play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, is renowned to be a popular choice for outside plays in the summer months.

Perhaps it is the ethereal fairies, the forest set, or the aura of love; they all speak of beautifully balmy Summer’s nights.

Conjure this summery vibe in this romantic floral gown by Erdem and pair it with these perfectly nude Proenza Schouler lace up flats.

Both found at the AlOthman Outlet Online.

Day of the Dead

I went absolutely mad about Peter Pilotto‘s new Resort 2013 collection.

The bright colors took their funky prints into an entire new direction.

Though it was not quoted as part of their inspiration, I was immediately taken to Mexico’s fabulous festival of The Day of the Dead.

Bright clashing colors, overwhelming prints, and hidden shapes all reminded me of the celebrations.

Can’t wait for the Resort buying trip, all the shows look fantastic!

Surreal This

The Fall 2012 Runway of Diane Von Furstenberg was possibly my favorite of the season.

It was colorful, bold, extremely feminine, and best of all, the accessories were to die for.

I loved how she played with surrealism with faces, lips, clocks, and dice.

Take a look at the handbags that will soon be arriving in Kuwait by DVF- Do you love them as much as I do?

Style Guide: Airport Chic

With the summer vacation around the corner, I bet you’ve booked your hotel, flight tickets and probably even prepared a few outfits for you to take along. The question that causes a dilemma day before leaving is, “what will I wear to the airport?”  Obviously,  you want to look stylish, and even though deep down you secretly wish you could travel in your pajamas, you swear that you will not compromise style! However, looking stylish does not always have to be uncomfortable! After years of suffering from uncomfortable clothes on flights, it is about time someone tackled that niche market. Thankfully, we at AlOthman have brought the king of comfort himself to you: Alexander Wang.

Alexander Wang was not crowned the title “King of Casual Fashion” for nothing. Thanks to the talented Wang, stylish women all over the world can still wear sweats and chunky cardigans when travelling and yet maintain that style factor. Jet-setting celebrities like Mary-Kate Olsen and Rihanna swear by Wang’s clothing, as nothing says effort-less chic more than Wang!
