Jason Wu, born and raised in Taipei, began his career in fashion by creating clothing for dolls. Soon enough the head of the doll company realized his potential and encouraged him to take on designing clothing for actual people. Since then, his designs have graced the bodies of celebrities and filled the pages of magazines, most noted worn by the First lady Michelle Obama on Inaguration Night. So if you have the urge to feel and look like a life size doll, Jason Wu is the designer to try out.
Jason Wu is now available at AlOthman.

The Sydney-based designer, Josh Goot, has been receiving amazing reviews ever since he made his debut in New York in 2006.
Harper’s Bazaar featured the designer in two late issues, and these wonderful designs were worn by the endeared Eva Mendes and Kate Bosworth. The photographs certainly convey the designer’s love for light and body-conscious designs.
Josh Goot’s collection is currently available at AlOthman.

While buying the new collections for the store, there was one trend that was incredibly clear- the color Acid yellow. Referred to by designers as sulphur, neon, highlighter, and citrine it was on bags, shoes, and garments alike.
It popped up on gowns at Oscar de la Renta, dresses at Zero Maria Cornejo, and shoes at Christian Louboutin.
Think of how sunny you would look in this vivid color with warm tanned skin on long balmy nights; it is a definite necessity for all of our summer wardrobes.
AlOthman will have a varied selection of this trend throughout the Summer season.

The creatives, the eccentrics, the strange are who reign in London. The shows of fashion week took place last week, and it was runway after runway of glorious garments parading down. From Peter Pilotto‘s vibrant prints and pirate boots to Issa‘s zebra fabrics and clashing brights, there was a mad variety to enjoy.
However, there were two shows in particular that were outstanding, Marios Schwab and Erdem. Both created “the dress”- long ones, short ones, embellished ones, colorful ones, sultry ones, playful ones- it was all about the dress. The trend that was also highlighted are the shoulders. My fellow fashionistas- Fall 2009 is focused on the shoulder, either sculpted and big or stripped bare, they are essential.
Take a look at the London Fashion Week shows on style.com and share with me your thoughts.
All the above mentioned designers are available at AlOthman.

Sure there are some brilliant dresses in your closet for special night outs, but if you’re looking for something much less predictable, go for this season’s biggest trend, the jumpsuit.
Comfortable and chic, the all-in-one piece dominated the catwalks this season. The trick on how to pull off this “not-as-difficult-as-you-might-have thought” look is to pair it with towering edgy heels and a funky chain bag. Avant-garde accessories will stop the jumpsuit from feeling “old” and “tomboyish”. Finish the look by backcombing your hair, painting on a black liner, and putting on a blazing red lipstick.
The pictured jumpsuit is by Mayle available now at AlOthman. And we will be also receiving a different variation of the jumpsuit from Derek Lam. Watch this spot to be the first to know about it.

She generated more media coverage than most A-list stars, has become a leading fashion icon overnight, and now she is on the cover of Vogue!
Michelle Obama, who will only be the second First Lady to be featured on the cover of Vogue magazine, was photographed in outfits she chose herself. On the cover, Michelle dressed in a magenta silk dress by inaugural designer Jason Wu.
A harmonious photo of Jason Wu and Jessica Alba was also featured within the magazine, where Jessica wore a free flowing chiffon canary yellow gown (created by the designer of course).
I simply fell head over heels for this gown because it has such an ethereal look to it, whether its through the color or refined pleat detailing.
The gown is already available at AlOthman.

The combination of both strength and agility of the Roman warriors is what came to my mind when I first saw this Behnaz Sarafpour dress. The solid shift, with brushstrokes of gold pailletes from every direction, depicts the soldier’s chest armor. But the sheer delicate black fabric of the sleeves that also peeps out at the hem is a reminder of the tender flesh underneath.
This dress is made for a woman who is fierce yet fragile.
This dress by Behnaz Sarafpour is available at AlOthman for KD 1,219.

After much anticipation the Oscar night finally happened! Though I must say that I wasn’t mesmerized by what the stars wore this year, but there were enough looks to equip the red carpet with the glamour it needed. Here are some trends that I took note of:
Intricately Beaded:A few stars glared upon their arrival to the Oscars with their heavily embellished gowns, including Jennifer Aniston’s Valentino Haute Couture gown, Anne Hathaway’s Armani Prive’ gown, and Halle Berry’s black & gold beaded Marchesa gown.
Multi-tiered: It wasn’t hard to spot these multi layers that added femininity and grace to the red carpet , especially in Taraji P. Henson’s Roberto Cavalli gown, and Miley Cyrus’s heavily encrusted Zuhair Murad’s gown.
Detailed Bodice: Whether it was through embroidery or pleats, these gowns demanded our attention from the top! Notice Natalie Portman’s rainbow color beaded bodice of her lilac Rodarte gown and Evan Rachel Wood’s crisscrossed silk bodice of her Elie Saab Couture gown.
Soft Cream: It seems that several stars graced the red carpet in ivory toned gowns, including Jessica Biel in her strapless Prada gown and Penelope Cruz in her lace detailed vintage Balmain gown. This color definitely dominated the event!

A finely dressed Trudie Styler attended the launch of Azzaro’s Spring Summer collection in this white form fitting crystal laden Azzaro gown. The collection was co designed by Jemima Khan, Vogue’s epitome of modern glamour and the new face of Azzaro’s perfume ad.
On another note, Trudie must share the secret to looking this glorious at her age!
The gown is part of Azzaro’s collection, and is available at AlOthman for KD 2,569.
