One of my very favorite designers, Erdem Moralioglu and Smythson of Bond Street, famous for personalised stationery and luxury leather goods, have collaborated to produce a limited-edition set of TDF notebooks and diaries featuring his beautiful and oh-so-romantic fashion sketches and signature silk graphic flower prints. With a shared passion for attention to detail and love of colour, Smythson and Erdem are a match made in heaven
I’m sooo getting one of those high fashion agendas and notebooks which will be available online and in-store from November.

A Russian collaboration between advertising agency Doberman and artists Ilya Plontikov and Alexandra Zaharova resulted in a series of fabulous outfits made entirely of paper.
Yes, the great Karl Lagerfeld toyed with the aesthetic of paper during his February Couture show, but this is an entire wearable wardrobe made of paper.
The July/August issue of L’Officiel shot the pieces pairing them with the fluidity of jewellery.
A fantastic visual.

I found a brilliant surrealist photo shoot by Annie Lebowitz for Vogue US. The shoot, done for the December 2003 issue, was inspired by one of my favorite books, Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
The best thing about this shoot is the fact that different designers got to dress Alice in their own vision. The designers were also featured with their dresses, some not so obvious (like Helmut Lang seen in picture frame below). How would you dress Alice?

Ok I have to admit that I wasn’t a big fan of these Christian Louboutin ‘Lace up Booties’, but once I spotted Blai- I mean Leighten Meester strolling in a pair with her floral mini dress I grew a somewhat belated fondness towards them. Now I totally picture myself pairing the peep toe platforms with tassled ties with my white curve-hugging dress, stacked bangles, and a red pout!
On another note, I can’t wait till the third season of Gossip Girl airs this September… I will definitely take note of items that we carry at AlOthman for those who are fans of the show and our store!
The Christian Louboutin heels are available in black and a tan color for KD 209.

The Sartorialist, a blog I find myself returning to over and over again, has finally out their portrait work into a publication.
The site is a collection of photographs of random people on the streets that look interesting, appealing, quirky, or different.
Taken randomly on the streets, always present in all cities during fashion week, and at every hot spot restaurant, club, or bar in all the major cities.
It is quite addictive as you look and see people of all realms of the world, how they dress, how they choose to represent themselves.
A fabulous and intriguing coffee table book.
Looking forward to it!

David LaChapelle is a humorous fashion photographer as well as a filmmaker and video director. Commonly referred to as a surrealist, LaChapelle’s style is colorful and thought provoking. He is known to digitally enhance photos with images and colors that make them look like you snapped something straight out of your imagination. Hailing from the town of Fairfield in Connecticut, he ended up studying at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
LaChapelle was first hired by the famous filmmaker Andy Warhol to work for Interview magazine. He went on to work for magazines like Vanity Fair and Vogue. In addition to this he has published four books over the years including Hotel LaChapelle and LaChapelle Land, which feature provocative and unique portraits of celebrities and models.

Not one to be restrained by just one muse, LaChapelle has used countless celebrities as inspiration. His skilled lens has snapped everyone from Gisele to David Beckham in very creative ways. A few of the other celebrities on this list are Kylie Minogue, Uma Thurman, Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton. LaChapelle also directed Elton John’s Las Vegas show “The Red Piano” in 2004.

Directing advertisements for brands like Tommy Hilfiger and H&M is also on LaChapelle’s long resume. He also directed scandalous music videos like Christina Aguilera’s “Dirrty.” Short videos were not the limit to his work, however, he has also ventured into the art of film. His movie, Rize, explores the world of gangs in South Central Los Angeles and focuses on the dancing technique known as krumping. Going back to his photographic talents, LaChapelle has also shot covers for magazines like Rolling Stone, i-d, and French Vogue.

Isabella Blow, fashion eccentric and all around fabulous human, will be remembered through two autobiographies coming out about her in 2010. Known for discovering the talents of Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, Sophie Dahl, Stella tennant, and Philip Treacy.
She worked as assistant to Anna Wintour for American Vogue, as well as spots in Harpers Bazaar, British Vogue, and many other high fashion publications.
Her most magnificent feature, however, had to be the way she wore the most outlandish and strange hats with such ease, style, and grace. Ever since I knew of her, I have been admiring her fashion sense and courage.
Unfortunately, she suffered many personal issues, and took her own life two years ago by drinking an excessive mount of weed killer.
Irony is, she was a flower that stood out gloriously, in an industry of such shallowness and repetition.
I can not wait to get my hands onto these books, and relive the world of the true Mad Hatter.

With the current mood being on the somber side, the simplicity of white is very in this season. Designers such as Elie Saab, Jason Wu, Marios Schwab, Derek Lam, and Maia N used this lusciously stark color in various structures and patterns to bring the classic color to life and keep the looks fresh and ideal for frigid temperatures.

To wear winter white, go for wintery textures like wool and bouclé, rather than something summery like eyelet or linen. Choose darker accessories with high-contrast to give your whites a contemporary finish.

Yes the gifted soul singer Whitney Houston is back with an album and apparently a revived stylish look! The soon to be released ‘I Look To You’ album is to be out in September yet Whitney is already making public appearances to promote it…and I must say she has never looked this good!
On the cover of the album, she sported a one-shouldered white and silver striped bandage Herve Leger dress. What better piece to pick to highlight the star’s glowing skin and ageless body! Whitney, I hope you will continue to swoon us with dashing looks that will claim your star status back!
