Mouret the Magnificent

One of the highlights of our end of season sale is underlining distinctive pieces of great quality by the biggest names in the fashion world at unbeatable prices. Like this RM by Roland Mouret black and white long sleeves dress.  The form and fabric of the dress accentuates the body beautifully. Its fitted silhouette exudes a sensuous and feminine feel. Wear it with grey or leopard print Louboutin ankle boots to complete your look.

This RM by Roland Mouret dress was priced at 559KD and now it’s 391KD.

Chain of Dazzle

Cheryl Cole in Pierre Hardy

Cheryl Cole is one those stars who has made fashion blogs so exciting to browse this year, I can name at least five heart stopping gowns she donned on X Factor as if those pieces were made exclusively for her.  On one of the finale episodes,  Cheryl dazzled the show’s audience with a black lame dress adorned with a enchanting train and voluminous sleeves.  It wasn’t just the gown that made her look straight-up exquisite; it was her gorgeous Pierre Hardy heels with multiple crystal embellished chains as well.  These Hardy pumps are so delicate yet they add the perfect amount of pizzaz to a gown or cocktail dress.

Cheryl has surely become an unrivaled queen of fashion this year, and I believe it has something to do with her attention to details and perfecting her look with stunning accessories!

The Pierre Hardy heels are available in grey at AlOthman for KD 293.

Lela Mod

I think most of us crave Betty Draper’s style. The moment I saw Lela Rose’s short sleeved dress with checkered paint strokes, I immediately remembered Betty. The dress had qualities of early 60’s fashion with a modern twist: the delicate details, the always subtle silhouette, and the focus on a defined waist. Lela Rose’s dress from her cruise line is a definite wardrobe staple that you can wear time and again.

Just make sure you don’t go for the whole 60′s look of a tight hair bun, pearls, and bright red lipstick to avoid looking like you’re going to a costume party as Betty.

Lela Rose’s cruise line is now available at AlOthman.

Vol de Jour by Karl Lagerfield

Vol de Jour by Karl Lagerfield

Vol de Jour is a short film by Karl Lagerfeldstarring Lara Stone and Baptiste Giabiconi for the Chanel Spring Summer 2010 Pre-Collection. Although the black & white film has no dialogue, the soundtrack is very 1930’s inspired. It’s quite interesting to see Lagerfield venturing into the world of film and directing.

Jenny’s Louboutins

I haven’t heard much buzz about J-Lo‘s song “Louboutins,” mostly because I think people are trying to ignore it and pretend like it doesn’t exist. When you hear the first verse you are let down by the unimpressive lyrics. Just a sample, incase you haven’t heard it: “See some days you will love me/then you don’t/then you do/then you won’t/then you’re here/then you’re gone/I’m alone.” Really? It sounds a bit like a 7th grader wrote a few rhymes in homeroom. We first blasted this song in the office a few weeks ago, wondering how bad it would be. I’ll admit it, I do like Jennifer Lopez sometimes and gave her the benefit of the doubt. Before the song even ended, it was already stuck in my head (in the really annoying way, not in the catchy good way). To make matters worse, she actually fell at the American Music Awards while performing it. If you want to check it out for yourself, click here.

Disclaimer: AlOthman is not responsible for getting this song stuck in your head all day, click at your own risk.

If anything positive came out of this song, it’s thinking about the beautiful shoes that Mr. Louboutin makes. I found a picture of Jenny Lo wearing one of my favorite pairs in the AlOthman Outlet. We have the feathered confection in a light peach. Perfect with an elegant cocktail dress or evening gown.

Cruise Kaftans

Kaftan Issa 2

Kaftans to us in this region is more than an after beach cover-up or Cruise party dress. Kaftans are a wardrobe essential. We wear them almost every other night during Ramadan, we wear them for family gatherings or when you’re hosting dinner at our place and want to move and network with ease from one corner of the house to the other, and if the Kaftan is dressy, that would make it ideal for weddings and traditional parties. And most importantly, Kaftans are a part of our history. At AlOthman, we have received a nice selection of new cruise Kaftans suitable for anyone in their 20s or 60s.

If you like to have some definition to your waist, try this  cute yellow butterfly print on Issa’s long flowing black silk-jersey dress (289KD).

Kaftan Issa 1

Issa’s silk chiffon purple kaftan with red prints is suitable for any body type (329KD). Pair it with multi-layers stone necklace and leather heels for that hippie-chic look.

Kaftan Oscar

No one does dressy luxe kaftans asOscar De La Renta (798KD), the purple and white print kaftan is embroidered with thick white thread detail along the neckline and comes with a matching belt. Pair it with emerald green accessories for the right effect.

Style Maven: Miroslava Duma

You may not have heard her name before, and that isn’t surprising. She doesn’t stand out as particularly accomplished in the career sector, nor has she done anything largely significant. She has however, made it a point to show up at all sorts of events and galas in the most smashing of outfits. Chances are, if you are an avid fashion blog reader, you’ve probably seen her face before. (Pictured below, looking “casual” in NYC. Check out Grace Coddington in the background!)

Miroslava Duma is Russia’s Paris Hilton, minus the horribly tacky taste and bleach blonde hair. Miroslava is actually a pint-sized socialite with signature bangs and an insatiable love for Hermes bags. One of her favourite looks is pairing opaque black or grey tights with a short dress and an IT bag (usually Chanel or Hermes). What I like about her style the most is that she isn’t overtly sexy. Her looks have a cute, perfectly put together touch without looking like she thought too much about them.

If you want to emulate her adorable sense of fashion, I’ve noted a few of her style staples on page 2 for your convenience (and many additional pictures).

Bravo Miroslava, bravo. Now if only you could shorten your name…

MW Stars in Sex and the City2

Kim Katrall and Miley Cyrus in MW

As I was sipping on my morning coffee and browsing my favored fashion blogs, I noticed that the trailer of the much anticipated Sex and the City 2 was out.  Ofcourse I wasn’t patient to wait for the clip to load, but once it did I replayed it over and over again.  I loved everything about it, whether it was the unstoppable trail of fierce outfits,  the preview of the girls’ trip to Morocco, or  even Alicia Keys‘s “Empire State of Mind” playing in the background.

Apparently many actors and actresses will be starring in the film, and I can’t believe that Miley Cyrus is one of them.  A few months ago she and Kim Catrall were spotted filming in the same Matthew Williamson strapless dress with paillette detailing.  I have no idea what their scene is about, but I really hope that Miley‘s role in the movie is going to be extremely minor … I really can’t stand her acting nor her sense of style! I would much rather prefer seeing many Matthew Williamson creations on the screen instead.
