Poll of the Day

Bag poll

Jewelry by Pierre

When we think about Pierre Hardy the first thing that comes to mind are stunning shoes that range from flats to formal heels.  However, it was announced this month that the talented designer will stretch his creativity into the realm of fine jewelry. He certainly picked a worthy brand for his 14 piece collection, none other than French favorite Hermes. The line, named “Haute Bijouterie” is said to be equestrian inspired and ranges from $23,000 to $880,000. Each piece will be packaged in a custom made alligator box.

This is not the first time Pierre Hardy works with Hermes, he has designed shoe collections for the brand before. What do you think of the line? I love the loop necklace on the left!

Matured Marvels

I reeled over in joy when I came across this fantastic blog!

An ode to mature women (read 65 plus) who have yet to lose their fashion sense. From turban wearing grannies to chic Chanel suited dames, this blog focuses on the daring and ever so fabulous souls who trek the streets in their stylish attire.

Most claim, that with age, they have become far more comfortable in their own style and therefore take risks and chances with their wardrobes. How inspiring!

Fashion is in my blood and trust me, in about 40 years, I will be on these pages!

Summer Dressing

SDC19410

SDC19407

We have just received a new line of light and uber-feminine dresses by Paris-based fashion editor turned designer Thierry Colson. The line consists of airy tops and dresses which are perfect for summer getaways, hosting a tea party, walking outdoors, and simply enjoying the warm sun. Thierry Colson’s elegance lies in its vintage styling and it’s use of soft colors and delicate prints. Accessorized or not, the pieces are very easy to wear, flattering, and you will hardly feel hot in them.

Summer at the Outlet

The beautiful weather these past two days has been an inspiration to fill up our summer wardrobes. The only feeling better than stepping into the sunshine is wearing an outfit that is just as bright! There have been several new additions at the AlOthman RTW Outlet that will satisfy your summery cravings. Pieces from Matthew Williamson, Catherine Malandrino, Tashia, Thierry Colson, and Karma have just been added to the store. Most of the choices are colorful, light and airy fabrics to keep you cool as the temperatures rise. Check out two of Matthew Williamson‘s pretty creations below. The maxi dress is especially stunning.

Football Mania

Rihanna in Alexander Wang

I don’t know how he does it, but Alexander Wang can manage to make football inspired pieces look feminine.  Here is Rihanna donning a dress from the collection while performing at the the Super Bowl.  The grey jersey mini frock has sultry cut out details at the waist and tan leather shoulders.  Rihanna made sure to keep the look super feminine by pairing the dress with leopard print Christian Louboutin heels.

Monica in Alex Wang

While promoting her latest album “Still Standing”, Monica was spotted in the jacket version of the Spring 2010 football influenced collection.  The belted piece has the same shoulder detailing as Rihanna’s dress.  I am not sure how Monica styled the jacket, but it can look uber feminine if you wear it over a body-con dress and sky high heels.

Who said us ladies can’t enjoy football as much as men do!

Rihanna and Monica‘s Alexander Wang looks are available at AlOthman.

The Best of Two Worlds

Is it a dress or is it a coat? A little bit of both. This Erin Fetherston dress/coat in Summer’s strongest shade of nudes will will take you through Summer, Fall, and back again to Summer with such ease and versatility. The heart shaped belt gives a well finished and defined look to the outfit.

On a different note, I just read on WWD, that Erin Fetherston has signed on to guest design and creative consult for Juicy Couture until the end of 2011. That should add some eccentric and feminine touches to the good old JC tracksuits. Can’t wait to see how they turn out to be.

I Heart Shoes

SDC19382
SDC19378

Why do so many of us adore shoes so much? I can list several reasons like boost in height, the way they shape legs, their ability to turn a basic outfit into a smashing outfit, they come in various designs and colours to appeal to any taste, you don’t need to worry about your waist line, and they have the ability to lift my mood. These newly arrived S/S 2010 shoes by the “it” brand Balmain of the past couple of seasons are all of the above and more. I can see myself wearing them now and 10 years down the line.  Definitely on top of my shopping list of this season.

Feather Queen

Iman in Jason Wu

I can never take my eyes off of Iman whenever I stumble over a photo of hers, she is undeniably the definition of ageless beauty.  The former supermodel was lately seen in a pink Jason Wu feathered confection (with a neon green sash) that instantly made her skin glow.  I love how she went light on the accessories and sported Wu‘s runway nude heels.  Iman definitely ruled the red carpet at that event!

Unfortunately, Iman‘s Jason Wu dress is sold out, but the other version of it is available at AlOthman.
