In spirit of the much anticipated Royal Wedding, I wanted to share a bit of my recent experience at the Spring 2012 Bridal Market in NY. It was everything once would expect, endless gowns adorned with every bit of lace, ruffles, and flowers to make any bride feel like a fairytale princess. Many of the designers were clearly influenced by the hype of Prince William and Katherine Middleton‘s wedding that they created their own versions of a “royal wedding gown”. Monique Lhuillier actually created a gown named “Katherine” after receiving requests to make a sketch of what she would design for the future royal princess. When I saw the model walking in my jaw actually dropped … it was a true royal vision. The delicate lace was adorning her entire body but leaving the back slightly exposed. The train was made of the finest chantilly lace and the sleeves were ornamented with striking rhinestone buttons. I honestly couldn’t keep my eyes off it!
Oscar de la Renta produced an outstanding piece resembling a royal wedding gown but with a modern twist. The sleeves and neckline were gracefully adorned with lace flowers that extended to the hem of the skirt. The train was shorter than I had hoped, but every Oscar bridal gown can be produced with a longer train upon the bride’s request. It did not blow me away like Monique‘s Katherine gown (maybe I prefer a traditional look when it comes to weddings) but I found it extremely elegant and romantic.
Of course I was still eager to find out what who Katherine chose as her wedding designer, and I was not disappointed! Sara Burton for Alexander McQueen created a dreamy and superbly feminine hand-embroidered lace gown with an ivory duchess pleated skirt and over a two meter train. Many bloggers and friends of mine compared it to the elegance of Grace Kelly‘s wedding gown and I completely agree. From the lace sleeves, to the the form fitting bodice, to the delicate veil, Kate’s gown was a contemporary take on the late Grace’s elegant style.
Monique Lhuillier and Oscar de la Renta‘s Spring 2012 bridal collections will be available by Fall.
Hollywood has been hit with a serious case of animal print fever! Women of all ages and sizes can pull of this trend because you can wear it in so many different ways.
Here, Ugly Betty star Becki Newton puts on a Matthew Williamson maxi dress with a sleek hairstyle to match. Gossip Girl‘s Kelly Rutherford shows off her baby bump in this coral printed leopard dress.
Take a cue from Kelly and pair the flirty David Szeto coral dress below with a jacket to take it from casual to chic. If you’re not big on bright colors, you can also get the same exact dress that Becki rocked! Throw a cute cardigan over the Matthew Williamson maxi dress for a more conservative option.

A flirty sleeveless dress in a bright summer shade from David Szeto (below, left) is so versatile. You could wear it for a morning brunch or a cocktail party. This Matthew Williamson maxi dress is a must have. Simply add a cardigan for a more conservative look.

The beautiful actress Gabrielle Union was spotted posing with fellow actress Mena Suvari and Christian Siriano in one of his beautiful pieces. The blue and brown print dress looked stunning on the actress-who is always in amazing shape and ready for the camera.
Miss Union was snapped again that night with Mena and fashion darling Alexa Chung.

We usually obsess over everything concerning clothes, shoes, and bags but runway hair can be just as exciting. Beginning with Vena Cava (above) I’m really loving the hair band trend this season. I love how they modernized it by actually twisting a coral silk scarf and using it as a hair accessory.
Another hot trend this season is wavy, sexy hair. This was seen on the Ports runway (below, left) which was styled with more volume and precision. This look was also spotted at Peter Som (below, right) with a messy, beachy wave interpretation.
We saw tight, side-parted hair that was slicked back at both Carolina Herrera and Prabal Gurung. Both runways had styles that looked polished and simple from the front, but the shock factor was in the back. Check out the look from Carolina Herrera below, which had hair-toned barrettes clipped all over the back of the ponytail.
Prabal Gurung also had a barrette accent, placing a thin black one at the center of each model’s ponytail.
Proenza Schouler also went for pulled back hair, but they roughed up the look with a loose, messy bun. I absolutely love this.

What’s not to love about Christian Louboutin‘s studded “Sweet Charity” shoulder bag? It has a tough edge but keeps a girly charm with the bow at the front. It’s no wonder that starlets like Kourtney Kardashian, Blake Lively, and Jennifer Lopez all grabbed one for themselves. Kourtney was seen strutting around NYC with her controversial man Scott and kept her look chic in black and white.
Gossip Girl star Blake Lively paired the bag with a dark grey and black outfit, complete with her signature flowy locks. People‘s Most Beautiful Person Jennifer Lopez was ultra gram in a tight white bandage dress and fur. She held her Sweet Charity bag close while showing up for an event.
