Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s label The Row is giving back by teaming up with shoe brand TOMS to create some lovely cashmere blend shoes. TOMS is a label that has grown in popularity for it’s comfort, style, and the fact that for each pair you buy, a pair of shoes is given to a child in need. This wonderful brand ethic allows us to give back while we shop.
The two wonderful moguls actually went to Honduras themselves with footwear from TOMS, distributing them to children in different areas. Bravo to these ladies for such an honorable venture.
The Row‘s three comfy cashmere styles are around $140-$150.
Women everywhere can never get enough of Roland Mouret, you just can’t go wrong with his figure-flattering dresses! We’ve seen it on everyone from princesses to Hollywood stars!
Here, reality star Kim Kardashian rocked the white Myrtha dress on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The dress looked stunning on her body along with her brave choice of shoes and hairstyle. Sarah Murdoch from Australia’s Next Top Model chose a navy tea-length dress with a criss-cross back. The sophisticated look was both sexy and appropriate.
Both dresses are available online at 50% OFF!
Jennifer Hudson continues to look fabulous in her new slim body, and here she is rocking this Lela Rose ivory cotton threaded and tulle dress. I love how romantic and chic this piece looks … it feels very bridal-esque! I actually thought I would spot it on Kim Kardashian who has been channeling a lot of bridal looks lately (why wouldn’t she, I mean her wedding was a huge deal). Anyways, Jennifer paired this Lela piece with Christian Louboutin‘s “Maggie” leopard print pumps, wore minimal accessories and kept her hair down. I personally would have preferred daintier heels and a sleek ponytail to let the tulle neckline and cap sleeves show … yet she still looked fab!
The Lela Rose dress is available at AlOthman for KD 829.
This week we are adding the Summer 2011 collection from RM by Roland Mouret. Many different styles from timeless classics to printed maxi dresses are available. This white “Myrtha” folded sheath dress exudes the signature brand identity. You can never go wrong putting on this dress, just pair it with killer heels and a simple hair do that shows off the front. For a bolder approach, go with this green and white printed silk blend kaftan dress with a black trim at the collar. It’s a beautiful summer piece!
We are also adding some funky Christian Louboutin bags. This purple fringe clutch is eye catching in both color and design, it is the perfect statement piece to bring out an outfit!
T by Alexander Wang that is…new racks have been filled with cozy and impossibly soft seperates from the designer in neutral colors that will easily blend into your wardrobe. If your shopping list includes the perfect T or sweater then look no further. If a cocktail dress is on your mind, a beautiful new collection from Lela Rose is now in store. The collection includes gorgeous metallic evening shades and fabrics.
For a more modern cut, a new selection of Roland Mouret dresses have also arrived. Choose a yellow or rich maroon shade in a figure flattering cut, or go for a classic black piece.
We also have some chic new bags in store, including this small mustard colored Alexander Wang bag, and this burgundy leather Diane Von Furstenberg bag.
We hope to see you soon at AlOthman.
On the 17th of August 2011, from 9 pm to 12 am, The Creative Space Beirut team launches their debut collection: One واحدة
This exhibition will be held for three consecutive days, through the 18th and 19th of August, from 12 noon – 7pm at Saifi Urban Gardens.
The Creative Space is a project committed to providing a free educational space to inspire and empower youth from various backgrounds, through fashion design.
Founded by Sarah Hermez, a graduate from Parsons the New School for Design, and Caroline Simonelli, a professor at Parsons and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, the mission is to approach education alternatively, directing the students with founding principles of fashion design while encouraging their creative freedom.
Using italian fabrics generously donated by a reknowned fashion house in New York City, five student designers aged 16-22 who lack fair opportunities-
Baraa Abdallah, Carmen Havatian, Eman Al Aswad, Nourhan Abdullatif, and Sophie Youssef have been working together to create a collection titled One واحدة , which will be displayed and auctioned at the exhibition. All profits will be distributed amongst the team and the project.
Come meet the team and learn about the journey behind every step of the project: where the designers came from, how they have come to be a team and the details which tell a story behind every garment.
The garments, mostly dresses, will be up for sale through a silent auction.
Photos and videos will be on display as well as an intimate look through the workshop in which the team has been working throughout the process.
Following the exhibition and silent auction, all winning bids will be contacted and scheduled for private fitting sessions, in which the designers will fit the garment to the customer’s comfort and dimensions.
All proceeds will go directly to the project, split equally between the designers, while another percentage goes to the project space and materials, in hopes for an upcoming season of lessons, journeys, collections and designers.
