20 years of Art and Sole

Christian Louboutin celebrates 20 years of red sole  success, by launching a remarkable pop up shop  in the Concept Store at Selfridges London.

Besides featuring the hottest new designs from his new Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which will include everything from clutches to men’s shoes, the shop will feature a special anniversary capsule collection of spectacular shoes, one representing each year of the Louboutin domination of  shoe reign.

Putting the red Cherry on top, Louboutin himself has redesigned the entire Concept Store and all surrounding windows to create a whole new celebrative ambience, with a more perfect showcase for his spectacular pieces.

This feature is only available between 27 February and 1 April.

Do the Polka!

Oscar de la Renta is one of the very few designers that consistently maintains a high standard of elegance with regal designs that never fail to make most women swoon after every single piece he creates. One of his infamous mediums that he works with is polka dots and he has presented us with the most eye-pleasing designs for years.

This season’s polka dot came in different variation of gowns and dresses but one very specific dress was seen on the likes of New York socialite Lauren Santo Domingo and super model Lara Stone in a Vogue Paris editorial inspired by Central Park.

“Elegance is the discipline of life.” Oscar de la Renta

This sophisticated dress can be found at AlOthman store.

If it were up to Moi…

The Oscars are on tonight, and If I were the one to choose pieces for the stars, tis is what I would do…

For Rooney Mara, I would opt for J.Mendel‘s sleek modern cutout gown with gilded sleeves. It shows off her signature goth looks but makes it more glamorous with the gold accents and slithering skirt.

For the stunning Halle Berry, I would choose none other than the bombshell number that walked down the Marchesa runway. You need a perfect body like Halle’s to truly shine in this perfect gown.

For the beautiful Penelope Cruz, I would highlight her Spanish mystique with this feminine Oscar de la Renta gown. The color would compliment her beautifully and the silhouette would be perfect on her figure.

For the sultry Eva Mendes I would definitely change up her sexy looks and play up her girliness in this Christian Siriano Angelic gown. It will compliment her hourglass figure while the wings frame her beautiful face.

For the elegant stunning Angelina Jolie, I would take her out of her dark color funk. This dove grey Zac Posen gown is still conservative, as she likes it, but with a youthful aura. It also has a perfect neckline for her to display her beautiful collection of jewels.

Lat but not least is the quirky and beautiful Michelle Williams. Because of her pixie cut and blonde colorings, she would look fantatic in this royal blue Erdem with a high neck. She would totally brighten the look with her sunshine demeanor and bright smile.

Can’t wait for the show tonight!

Katy is Blue

Well, this is over the top.

So, we know that it is hard going through a breakup, but was it necessary to drag a beautiful Roland Mouret dress down with you?

Here is the very talented, beautiful, Katy Perry dawning a vibrant two tone blue Roland Mouret Summer 2012 dress, which looks stunning on her. However, with the blue hair, blue platform shoes, and blue accessories- she looks like a blue mess.

In the future Love, please don’t use beautiful fashion as a shield. Just stay home with some ice cream until you are feeling better.

Roksanda gets Political

Samantha Cameron, wife to the UK’s Prime Minister, held a very fashionable party at 10 Downing street.

A huge supporter of British fashion and encourages young designers and business had the likes of Paul Smith, Mary Katrantzou, Roksanda Ilincic, Natalie Massanet of Net-a-Porter, Anya Hindmarch, and Danielle Crook all attend.

Of all the choices, however, she decided to dawn a Roksanda Illincic Spring 2012 number which looked perfect on her.

Critically Chic: Proenza Schouler

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the designing duo behind Proenza Schouler, received stellar reviews from fashion critics for their Fall 2012 collection.

Here’s what they had to say:

  • Women’s Wear Daily: “[A] powerful sportswear statement … [The separates] were challenging as well, those voluminous proportions not for the faint of heart … What could not be overstated were the extraordinary fabrics … Seeing clothes so polished and expensive-looking still convey a street attitude is what made it so fabulous.”
  • Style.com: “This was a daring show, in which they proposed new silhouettes … [leather weaving] was astounding … The remarkable thing about the show was its evolution … Their confidence is persuasive, and so is their skill.”
  • New York Times: “The silhouette at Proenza Schouler was more extreme: a boxy jacket in white piqué with an asymmetrical front worn with wide-leg trousers. It was a cool look, hinting of a Japanese influence.”
  • British Vogue: “[McCollough and Hernandez] built a truly engrossing and detailed collection — one that is sure to be considered a benchmark of the season…they are no flash in the pan mavericks, but a perfectly matched pair seeking to create a singular vision of fresh originality.”
