One of our favorite new designers, Huishan Zhang‘s couture dragon dress has been selected to be exhibited at the V&A‘s permanent collections in the T.T Tsui Gallery. The dragon dress was inspired from the transformation of the traditional Cheongsam and dragon robe.

Graduated from Central Saint Martins London, Huishan was a pioneer with embracing Chinese culture and traditions while using Western influences and techniques.
Congratulations Mr.Zhang! Your success is our success!

With the summer vacation around the corner, I bet you’ve booked your hotel, flight tickets and probably even prepared a few outfits for you to take along. The question that causes a dilemma day before leaving is, “what will I wear to the airport?” Obviously, you want to look stylish, and even though deep down you secretly wish you could travel in your pajamas, you swear that you will not compromise style! However, looking stylish does not always have to be uncomfortable! After years of suffering from uncomfortable clothes on flights, it is about time someone tackled that niche market. Thankfully, we at AlOthman have brought the king of comfort himself to you: Alexander Wang.

Alexander Wang was not crowned the title “King of Casual Fashion” for nothing. Thanks to the talented Wang, stylish women all over the world can still wear sweats and chunky cardigans when travelling and yet maintain that style factor. Jet-setting celebrities like Mary-Kate Olsen and Rihanna swear by Wang’s clothing, as nothing says effort-less chic more than Wang!

One exciting aspect of being a thrifty shopper is always finding pieces that work so well with new trends! Another exciting part is actually finding a trend that is so practical and adds the right amount of quirkiness to everyday outfits.

This season’s quirky trend is the gold collar; be it attached or an actual necklace, fashion-aficionados all over the world are embracing this trend for it’s simple yet casually cool look.

Lucky for us, here at AlOthman we can proudly say we can predict trends before they actually start. We have currently stocked our outlet with pieces from 3.1 Phillim Lim‘s gold collar blouses (below) from his Winter 2008! The gold collar adds that extra pop needed in everyday versatile blouses making these blouses easy to transition from winter to summer & from day to night.

Victoria Beckham was the first to be seen in her VICTORIA Victoria Beckham collection and I’m glad she did! She was definitely the right person to create a hype for the launch of the new line. The piece she decided to show was a very girly drop waist dress with scallop detailing. Her other great accessory were ofcourse the signature VB glasses.
Michelle Williams was later seen in the white and black version at this year’s BAFTA after party. Even with Michelle’s adorable pixie cut, her look didn’t make a big of an impact as Victoria’s version. Plus, Victoria‘s chunky booties were a great contrast to the ultra feminine look, while Michelle‘s pumps were a tad boring. I would have possibly voted for Michelle‘s look if she had paired her dress with bright or neon colored heels. Otherwise, Victoria is a clear winner!
The Victoria by Victoria Beckham collection is available at AlOthman.
