Two nights ago I watched Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” for the second time (yes I am a huge MJ fan). I loved everything about the movie and how it captured moments of MJ preparing to dazzle the audience with his ingenious choreography and highly creative show. It was incredibly emotional to watch the film but it didn’t stop me from admiring the few Balmain pieces MJ donned during the concert rehearsals. One of the blazers that I swooned over was the black one with exaggerated shoulders and white collar beautifully adorned with crystals. This is not an actual photo from the movie but I thought the blazer looked amazing on him, and it confirms that he was the muse for Balmain’s SS09 collection.
Yesterday I viewed Janet Jackson’s video of her newly released single “Make me” and I was completely smitten by her Todd Lynn blazer with metallic shoulder pads. I couldn’t help but feel that Janet drew inspiration from her brother just like Rihanna and Beyonce have when they sported Balmain ensembles, and I think it makes the video more meaningful that way.
If you haven’t had a chance to see “This Is It”, then I highly recommend you watch it on IMAX this weekend if you are not travelling for Eid.
